Pool repair guide
Pool Repair, Resurfacing or Renovation?
The right scope depends on whether deterioration is isolated, widespread or part of a broader upgrade.
Start with evidence
Write down what changed, when it happens and whether it is affected by the pump running. Note the pool construction, finish, approximate age and equipment model. Photographs can be useful, but they do not replace an inspection where the cause is uncertain.
What can affect the answer?
Access, the extent of damage, hidden pipework, compatible materials, curing requirements and parts availability all influence repair options. A local patch may be sensible for an isolated defect; widespread deterioration can make resurfacing or staged renovation more practical.
What not to do
Do not drain the pool, dismantle electrical equipment or add large amounts of chemicals solely to mask a symptom. Keep people away from damaged electrical components and follow manufacturer instructions for equipment shutdown.
Questions to ask
- What evidence points to the likely cause?
- Is further testing needed before work is scoped?
- Does the proposed work address the cause as well as the visible damage?
- What preparation, curing and aftercare are required?
